Explainer - Schools and Communities Engagement Team  (term time only)

Rate of Pay: £11.64 per hour (rising to £12.14 per hour after a successful completion of your probationary period)

Hours: A minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Fixed term contract until 31 July 2025.

We are looking for someone who is as passionate as we are about engaging people with science.

Your role will be to make a visit to Life Science Centre exciting, entertaining, informative and fun and to enhance the experience of all visitors.  Your focus will be delivering curriculum-linked activities to school groups both at Life and in schools and community settings. You will be a confident performer, who can deliver hands-on science activities that are consistently exciting, entertaining, informative and fun. You will enhance the experience of young people visiting the science centre and in their own schools

You will be interested in STEM and will be curious, enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and enjoy presenting to audiences. You will also share our desire to help everyone understand better the relevance of science to their lives.

The role is busy and requires travel around the region and ideally, you’ll be able to drive. You will organise and manoeuvre equipment to and from schools in order to deliver outreach workshops as well as delivering in our lab spaces at Life. Physical stamina, enthusiasm and the ability to work at a high standard for long periods are essential.. Working hours may vary to meet the needs of the business; therefore, a flexible approach will be required.
